2025 Frontier League News

AVON, OH - During their series with the ThunderBolts, it seemed like Ethan Wilder was always on base for the Wild Things. In 13 plate appearances, Wilder recorded eight hits, two walks and three RBIs, giving him a whopping .727 batting average after the first weekend of the 2025 season. He capped his impressive series in Crestwood by going 4-for-4 at the plate and driving in two runs in the series finale on Sunday. After the first set of games, Wilder’s stat line is at .727 AVG/.769 OBP/.818 SLG. Wilder came to the Wild Things last season via Lander University, helping them win a franchise record 67 games as well as a division title and an appearance in the Frontier League Championship Series. Wilder had several teammates bring home a weekly award last season, but this is the first time that he himself has been given the honor of Frontier League Player of the Week.

AVON, OH - Right-hander Aaron Evers took the hill as the starter in the middle game against the Wild Things on Saturday. The former Oakland Golden Grizzly started the game by striking out the side, which included both the reigning Frontier League Most Valuable Player and 2024 batting champion. His dominance continued throughout the evening, not allowing a base hit until the seventh inning. All told, Evers struck out eight over 6.2 innings and allowed only one hit in his first start in the Frontier League. Evers is one of several new faces on the pitching staff for the Bolts this season. He spent time last season in the United Shore Professional Baseball League with the Westside Woolly Mammoths. Although he struck out 25 in 20 relief appearances in 2024, Saturday’s game marked his first professional start. He is also the first ThunderBolts player to win a weekly award since Logan Schmitt did so in July, 2023.
SAUGET, IL – The Gateway Grizzlies are proud to announce a multi-year partnership with Arsenal Business Growth, solidifying the company as the new official naming rights sponsor of the Grizzlies’ stadium, now known as Arsenal BG Ballpark . An announcement will be made on Opening Day, May 16. The ballpark remains owned by the Village of Sauget, but this agreement marks an exciting new era for the Grizzlies and their fans. The naming rights sponsorship is a strategic partnership that places Arsenal Business Growth at the forefront of community engagement and regional visibility, aligning with the team’s ongoing commitment to innovation, entertainment, and business leadership in the Metro East area. “We are thrilled to partner with Arsenal Business Growth and usher in this exciting chapter at Arsenal BG Ballpark,” said Kurt Ringkamp, General Manager of The Gateway Grizzlies. “This partnership reflects our shared values of growth, impact, and excellence—both on and off the field.” Arsenal Business Growth became interested in the opportunity because it provides a unique opportunity to help Arsenal BG recruit and retain talent, give back to the Sauget community and beyond through sponsored events, and so much more. The naming rights agreement spans eight years, with the option to extend the partnership on a year-by-year basis up to 12 years. This collaboration follows the Grizzlies’past stadium naming partnerships with GCS Credit Union (2006–2022), which recently rebranded as Revity Credit Union, and a brief period as Grizzlies Ballpark (2023–2024). “Arsenal BG is thrilled about our new partnership with the Gateway Grizzlies,” said Aaron Asher, Owner of Arsenal Business Growth. “Exploring opportunities to invest in, and partner with, Greater St. Louis Area organizations is top-of-mind for Arsenal BG, and this opportunity was one we could not pass up. We are looking forward to many years of rooting for the Gateway Grizzlies!” The Grizzlies will host their Opening Day on May 16, 2025, at Arsenal BG Ballpark as they take on the Trois-Rivières Aigles. The home opener will feature a Tom Calhoun bobblehead giveaway and postgame fireworks, promising fans a night of unforgettable entertainment. Members of the media are invited to attend the game.

KINSTON, NC - The Down East Bird Dawgs are excited to announce a field naming-rights agreement ahead of the inaugural 2025 season with Superior Metal Structures & Concrete. Based out of Beulaville, NC, they serve all of eastern North Carolina and continue to expand. The name of the field at Grainger Stadium will now be called the Superior Metal Structures & Concrete Field at Historic Grainger Stadium. “We’re proud to partner with a local, family-owned company like Superior Metal Structures & Concrete as we launch this exciting new chapter of baseball in Kinston,” said Bird Dawgs Partner Bill Ellis “Their commitment to quality and community aligns perfectly with our vision for the Bird Dawgs and our fans at Historic Grainger Stadium.” The Down East Bird Dawgs are an exciting new addition to the baseball scene in Kinston, North Carolina. PEARL, MS — You can’t have a monster movie without a narrator, and now, you can’t have a Mud Monsters game without Jay White. The Mississippi Mud Monsters are proud to announce longtime Mississippi broadcaster Jay White as the team’s official play-by-play voice for the 2025 season. From Opening Day to the final out, Jay will be behind the mic for all 96 games—home and away—bringing every bat crack, base steal, and bullpen beast mode to life. A Jackson native with nearly 30 years of broadcasting experience, Jay’s voice is already part of Mississippi’s sports soundtrack. Whether you’ve heard him hosting the award-winning Season Pass on MPB Think Radio or co-hosting Mississippi Sports This Morning, there’s a good chance he’s already called a big moment from your sports memory bank. He’s done it all—baseball, basketball, football, volleyball, soccer—across Dixie Youth, high school, JUCO, college, and the pros. If it involves a scoreboard, Jay’s probably described it. And now, he’s bringing that same legendary voice to Trustmark Park, ready to call a monster mash-up at home plate or a moonshot sailing clean over Old Brandon Road. But it’s not just his play-by-play chops that make Jay a perfect fit. He’s a family man and a familiar face in Central Mississippi. Jay and his wife Heather (a Madison native) have been married for 10 years, and they’re raising four teenagers in Rankin County. Their oldest will graduate this spring from the Mississippi School of the Arts—so creativity runs in the bloodline. “This isn’t just a new team—it’s a new era, and I’m humbled to be the one holding the mic,” said White. “Baseball in Mississippi has always had heart, grit, and great stories. I can’t wait to help fans hear every crack of the bat, every big play, and every muddy moment that makes this team special.” Mud Monsters General Manager Andrew Seymour added, “Jay brings instant credibility, deep roots in our community, and a voice that just sounds like Mississippi baseball. From day one, we knew we wanted a broadcaster who could make fans feel like they were right there in the ballpark, even if they’re listening from miles away. Jay’s going to bring this story to life in a way only he can.” Thanks to a brand-new streaming partnership between the Frontier League and HomeTeam, fans everywhere can follow Jay’s call of the Mud Monsters all season long. All 96 games will be broadcast live through HomeTeam’s new platform. Whether you're tuning in from Pearl or Peoria, the monsters are coming to you.
