WINDY CITY'S RUDDY GOMEZ SIGNED BY TWINS
CRESTWOOD, IL – Another Frontier Leaguer is on his way to a Major League Baseball organization!
Windy City ThunderBolts right-handed pitcher Ruddy Gomez has had his contract purchased by the Minnesota Twins.
Gomez, who pitched for the University of Central Florida previously, was a bright spot for the ThunderBolts last season. In 13 games (12 starts), he cumulated a 4-4 record with a 4.24 ERA in 70 innings with 79 strikeouts.
Gomez’s most impressive start in 2024 was his complete-game shutout against the Joliet Slammers back on July 21. The power-pitching right-hander struck out six to only one walk and only allowed three hits in a 1-0 ThunderBolts victory.
In his 12 starts last season, Gomez struck out five or more hitters 10 times. In his final start for Windy City, Gomez tossed six shutout innings against the Evansville Otters, striking out eight en route to a victory.
After having his contract purchased by Minnesota, Gomez was assigned to the Florida Complex League. He is the third pitcher from the ThunderBolts to be signed by an MLB affiliate since last season, joining fellow pitchers Derrick Edington (Tampa Bay Rays) and Tyler LaPorte (Atlanta Braves).
The Frontier League wishes the best of luck to Ruddy as he continues his baseball career with the Twins!
