TYLER THORNTON WINS PITCHER OF THE WEEK AWARD

Right-handed pitcher Tyler Thornton claims the Pitcher of the Week award after shutting down the Brockton Rox on Sunday afternoon. He tossed eight shutout innings to claim the victory in a 1-0 contest, allowing just one hit and striking out four. Thornton’s performance was capped by his becoming the all-time Sussex County strikeout leader.



Thornton is a Frontier League veteran, currently in his seventh season. In four seasons with Sussex County, the right-handed hurler has 237 strikeouts in 338.1 innings. Across his entire Frontier League career with the Miners, the Windy City ThunderBolts and the Traverse City Beach Bums, he has struck out over 500 batters. Thornton is the second Miner to claim a weekly award in 2025, and the first Pitcher of the Week for Sussex County since Griffin Baker (June 5, 2023).
