MASON OLSON WINS PITCHER OF THE WEEK AWARD
Rookie left-hander Mason Olson has been outstanding for the New York Boulders this season. His most recent game this past Tuesday against the Sussex County Miners was his best work yet, spinning a one-hit complete game shutout to give New York the series-opening win. Olson’s start was rounded out by allowing only one walk while striking out nine and facing the minimum 27 batters.
Olson, a native of Provo, Utah, came to the Boulders after a solid senior season at Brigham Young University where he finished with a 2.82 ERA. His first professional season has been even more impressive, as he currently ranks third in the Frontier League with a 1.13 ERA across six games (five starts). Equally as impressive has been his ability to limit baserunners, as exemplified by his 0.97 WHIP. He is the first Boulder pitcher to win a weekly award since Mitchell Senger in late August 2024.
