LUIS ENCARNACION WINS PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD
AVON, OH – The New Jersey Jackals captured their first weekly honors of the season in week four.
New Jersey utility player Luis Encarnacion went 8-for-12 with five home runs to take home the hardware.
Encarnacion was ready when his number was called this week, collecting RBI hits in three different pinch-hitting opportunities. Encarnacion delivered a three-run home run after coming off the bench in the ninth inning of the Jackals' 11-9 win over the New York Boulders on Wednesday.
After starting on Thursday and Friday, Encarnacion capitalized on the opportunity by hitting a pair of home runs in each game. The utilityman also drove in runs with successful pinch-hit appearances on both Saturday and Sunday as the Jackals moved to first place in the East division of the Atlantic Conference.
Encarnacion signed with New Jersey in December after spending the last five seasons in the Houston Astros organization, playing most recently for the AA Corpus Christi Hooks and A+ Asheville Tourists in 2025.
