LEONARDO RODRÍGUEZ WINS PITCHER OF THE WEEK AWARD
AVON, OH – New Jersey Jackals right-handed pitcher Leonardo Rodríguez tallied ten strikeouts across four scoreless appearances to take home Pitcher of the Week honors.
New Jersey Jackals right-handed relief pitcher Leonardo Rodríguez made four scoreless appearances this week. Rodríguez struck out two while firing a perfect ninth inning in the Jackals’ 12-2 loss to the Ottawa Titans on Tuesday. He also appeared in Thursday’s 17-4 win, striking out four over two innings.
Rodríguez twirled a perfect inning on Saturday against the Gateway Grizzlies, picking up a strikeout in the Jackals’ 8-3 win. He concluded his week with another two-inning outing, adding three strikeouts in Sunday’s 5-4 win. Rodríguez is
the first relief pitcher to earn Pitcher of the Week honors this season, and just the second since 2023. The other pitcher was none other than Rodríguez himself, who also earned the award in Week 12 of 2025.
Rodríguez joined the Jackals in 2022, making 15 starts for the team. He spent the 2024 and 2025 seasons with the Lake Erie Crushers, where he made the transition to the bullpen. The Jackals re-acquired Rodríguez in a December 2025 trade. He was activated from the visa inactive list on June 11 of this year. Before joining the Frontier League, Rodríguez spent parts of four seasons with the Baltimore Orioles organization.
