KYLE FITZGERALD WINS PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD
AVON, OH – Schaumburg Boomers infielder Kyle Fitzgerald led his team to a 6-0 week with ten RBI and four extra-base hits. He launched a 3-run home run in the first inning of Tuesday’s 12-6 win over the Down East Bird Dawgs. Fitzgerald went 3-for-5 at the plate in the series finale on Thursday, driving in three and stealing a base.
Fitzgerald doubled in all three games of Schaumburg’s weekend set against the Mississippi Mud Monsters. He drove in two with his two-bagger on Friday, drove in another two and doubled on Saturday, and ran his double streak to three games with a first-inning knock on Sunday. Fitzgerald now has 6 doubles on the year, second-most in the league, while his 18 RBI rank third-best.
The Brookfield, Illinois, native is in his fourth season with the Boomers. He joined Schaumburg after playing at the University of St. Louis.
