JUSTIN GIDEON WINS PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD

AVON, OH - Outfielder Justin Gideon got off to a slow start on the road in Joliet this past week, tallying just one hit in his first eight at-bats. The 2023 Frontier League first-round draft pick then exploded in the finale against the Slammers, hitting two home runs and driving in three to seal the series sweep for the Capitales. He continued his hot hitting in the weekend series against the Windy City ThunderBolts, homering three more times in yet another series win for the defending league champions. In 25 at-bats this past week, Gideon tallied 13 hits, five homers, two doubles, and drove in 14 runs; he also drew six walks while only striking out three times. His final line for the week was .520 AVG/.613 OBP/1.200 SLG.

Gideon is well known (and considerably feared) as a staple of the Capitales’ lineup, being a part of the past two championship squads. He has put up 20-plus home runs in his first two seasons in Québec City. and driven in over 130 runs. This season, he is on track to be even more productive. This is Gideon’s first Player of the Week award, and the first for the Capitales since Marc-Antoine Lebreux won in mid-August 2024.
