QUEBEC CITY, QC
– One of the key players in the Capitales' last two championships will be back in 2025. Manager Patrick Scalabrini has confirmed the signing of the excellent Justin Gideon for next season.
A complete player if ever there was one, Justin Gideon is one of the few players in Capitals history to have two consecutive seasons of 20 home runs and 60 RBIs. No less than 45% of his hits last season were extra-base hits.
This formidable left-handed hitter also excels defensively at both ends of the outfield and moves quickly on the paths. Fans appreciate him because he always gives his best every time he steps onto a baseball field. He doesn't do anything halfway.
The Pickering, Ontario, native will occupy one of the two veteran positions on the Capitales roster. His presence for a third consecutive season is part of the team's policy of bringing back its impact players year after year.
Players who thrive in Quebec City and who appeal to fans. "Since there will be a lot of changes on the team, Justin Gideon's return takes on its full significance," said manager Patrick Scalabrini. "We'll be able to count on an important member of our core. What's more, he's a fan favorite."
Scalabrini emphasizes Gideon's influence on the team. "He can accomplish a lot on the field," adds the Capitales manager. "In addition to roughing up opposing pitchers with his bat, he dives to catch balls in the outfield. He steals bases, and you'll never see him scampering to first base."
