JAMES SMIBERT RETURNS TO AIGLES

TROIS-RIVIERES, QC - The Eagles' new manager, Jonathan Albaladejo, is offering fans a first gift to kick off 2025! The 2024 Eagles rookie of the year, James Smibert, will indeed be back in the Trois-Rivières nest next summer!

The 28-year-old Canadian, originally from Mississauga, Ontario, had a solid first full season as a professional. In 80 games with the Eagles, the infielder had a .246 batting average, racking up 60 hits, including 11 doubles and 5 home runs. The former NCAA Mount Olive Trojans player also scored 38 runs and drove in 35 last summer.

Beyond his batting performance, Smibert also provided very good service to the Eagles in the infield, playing mainly at shortstop and third base, posting an efficiency of .960.

The signing of James Smibert is the Eagles' third for the 2025 season, following the signing of Quebec left-handed pitcher Nathan Landry and American outfielder Justin Farmer.

Furthermore, the next few weeks promise to be busy for manager Albaladejo in the formation of his 2025 Eagles roster. For the past few days, his phone has been ringing non-stop, and the good news should keep coming, much to the delight of the fans!

The Trois-Rivières Eagles will kick off their 12th season —and their 4th in the Frontier League—on May 8th with a visit to the Sussex County Miners. They will then face the Evansville Otters and the Gateway Grizzlies on the road before opening their home game on May 20th at Quillorama Stadium against the Sussex County Miners.
