JACKALS SIGN FORMER BOULDER COSTIN, ACQUIRE TRABACCHI IN TRADE WITH QUÉBEC
PATERSON, N.J. - The New Jersey Jackals have signed Catcher Jimmy Costin and acquired Right-Handed Pitcher Nicholas Trabacchi from the Québec Capitales for a player to be named later.
Costin joins the Jackals after two seasons with the New York Boulders where he played in 40 games with 13 RBIs in 2023. Prior to the Boulders, he played in 44 games at Rockland Community College He is also the cousin of former Jackals catcher and current Minnesota Twins Bullpen Catcher, Frank Nigro.
Trabacchi comes to Paterson after winning the 2024 Frontier League title with the Québec Capitales. The Long Island native tossed 33.0 innings in relief and closed with a 1.09 ERA including 4.1 innings and a save in the Frontier League Championship Series against the Washington Wild Things.
This will be his third Frontier League campaign after he played 46 games for the Empire State Greys in 2023. He also spent multiple appearances in the Atlantic League with Hagerstown in 2024, Charleston in 2023 and Long Island in 2022.
The Jackals open the 2025 season on May 9th at Hinchliffe Stadium against the Québec Capitales. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. ET.
