IAN BATTIPAGLIA WINS PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD

Slammers Infielder Ian Battipaglia wins Player of the Week after registering a ridiculous 15 hits across six games last week. He had multi-hit performances in all but one contest, two doubles, a triple, and eight stolen bases. He was an impressive 4-for-5 at the plate in the Tuesday night series opener against the Florence Y’alls, including two extra-base hits, three runs, one RBI, and a stolen base. His stat line for the week ended at .577 AVG/.593 OBP/.731 SLG.

Ian joined the Joliet Slammers this season after playing at Franklin Pierce University from 2020-2024, hitting .369 across his five seasons. His .351 batting average in the Frontier League ranks in the top ten amongst all hitters and has earned him the everyday third base job for Manager Mike Pinto and the Joliet Slammers. The native of Cheshire, Connecticut is the second Slammer to take home a weekly award this season and is the first to earn Player of the Week honors since Matt McGary in May 2022.
