HECTOR GARCIA WINS PITCHER OF THE WEEK AWARD

AVON, OH – Washington’s RHP Hector Garcia joined Andrew Herbert and Jeff Liquori as Wild Things to take home weekly honors this year.

Hector Garcia dazzled in his first professional start, firing six scoreless innings in the Washington Wild Things’ 11-0 win over the Joliet Slammers on Saturday. The right-hander allowed just one hit while punching out six and walking none. 

On the season, Garcia is now 2-0 with a 0.69 ERA and 0.77 WHIP in 13.0 innings. He sits behind only teammate Kobe Foster (0.48 ERA) on the league’s ERA leaderboard, and behind only teammate Maddox Long (0.69 WHIP) on the league’s WHIP leaderboard. 

Garcia joined Washington in 2025, posting a 2.81 ERA in 48.0 innings last season. He was the Minnesota Twins’ 18th-round draft pick in 2023, and appeared in two games for the organization’s Florida Complex League affiliate that year. Garcia pitched collegiately at Hope International University in Fullerton, California, where he spent his final two seasons as a starting pitcher.
