GUNNAR KINES WINS PITCHER OF THE WEEK AWARD

Veteran left-hander Gunnar Kines wins Pitcher of the Week after a dazzling complete-game shutout of the Washington Wild Things on Thursday. Kines allowed just one base hit to the defending West Division champions in the series finale. He carried a perfect game into the seventh inning and a no-hitter into the eighth before allowing Washington’s only hit of the night. Kines rounded out his performance with seven strikeouts.

Kines is well-known in the Frontier League, having previously played with Schaumburg, Southern Illinois and Lake Erie. He has also spent time in affiliated ball with both the New York Mets and Miami Marlins organizations. So far this season, Kines has a 2.84 ERA across three starts and a flawless 3-0 record. He is the first member of the Slammers to take home a weekly award since Cole Cook did so in June 2023.
