FRONTIER LEAGUE ANNOUNCES 2025 ALL-STAR GAME ROSTERS

TROY, NY – The Frontier League is proud to honor the 2025 All-Star class!

The 32nd annual event will take place at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium, the home of the Tri-City ValleyCats, in Troy, New York.

Festivities for the 2025 Frontier League All-Star Game will begin at “The Joe” on Wednesday, July 16th with a pregame autograph session from 4 to 5 p.m. The 2025 Home Run Derby will begin at 5:30 p.m. The first pitch of the All-Star Game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Fireworks will follow the conclusion of the game.

Here is the 2025 Frontier League All-Star roster, beginning with the MIDWEST CONFERENCE:

STARTERS

CATCHER – Jose Alvarez, Gateway Grizzlies – Alvarez has had consistently great play at debatably the most important position in the game of baseball. Baserunners should be cautious when he is behind the dish, as he has already thrown out 11 would-be base thieves this season. His .321 batting average showcases his two-way effectiveness.

FIRST BASE – Anthony Calarco, Schaumburg Boomers – Anthony Calarco has been an absolute powerhouse for the West Division leaders. His 17 home runs top the Frontier League, and his 74 RBIs (also most in the league) set a new Schaumburg organizational record…halfway through the season.

SECOND BASE – Gabe Holt, Gateway Grizzlies – Holt makes another appearance in the mid-summer classic after being named an All-Star reserve in 2024. The established middle infielder is putting together another solid season for the Frontier League’s St. Louis-area team, hitting over .340 while regularly making defensive highlights in the middle of the diamond.

THIRD BASE – Ian Battipaglia, Joliet Slammers – Battipaglia will add another honor to his rookie season by starting at third base for the Midwest All-Stars. His bat-to-ball skills are impressive and his defensive prowess at the hot corner has been gold glove caliber.

SHORTSTOP – Braylin Marine, Joliet Slammers – Braylin Marine will take the field next to his Joliet teammate Ian Battipaglia, hoping to recreate some of the defensive magic that has been a staple for the Slammers this season. Marine is another member of this Midwest squad hitting over .330 this season, and has shown his above-average speed with nine stolen bases and three triples.

OUTFIELD – Keenan Taylor, Evansville Otters – Keenan Taylor will be another rookie making his All-Star debut in 2025 after clubbing eight home runs and driving in 34 to this point. The Evansville outfield as a whole has been one of the best units in the Frontier League, and Taylor has been its anchor.

OUTFIELD – Wagner Lagrange, Washington Wild Things – Lagrange is a Frontier League veteran, enjoying a career year in Washington. He is on track to put up the best batting average (.349) in his four years with the Wild Things.

OUTFIELD – Victor Castillo, Gateway Grizzlies – There is no such thing as a sophomore slump for Gateway outfielder Victor Castillo. After hitting over .315 last season with the club, he is on a similar track while drawing more walks, cutting down on strikeouts, and becoming more of a power threat.

RHP Anthony Escobar, Lake Erie Crushers – Anthony Escobar was the top vote-getter as a pitcher for the Midwest Conference. His miniscule 1.48 ERA leads all Lake Erie starters and is second best in the Frontier League.

Here are the 2025 Frontier League All-Stars from the ATLANTIC CONFERENCE:

STARTERS

CATCHER – Jason Agresti, New York Boulders – Jason Agresti has been on fire at the plate all season long. In his fifth season in the Frontier League, he is having a career-year; he is hitting over .380 and still has an active 20-plus game hitting streak (currently at 25 at the time of this release).

FIRST BASE – Mahki Backstrom, Sussex County Miners – The Sussex County Miners’ success so far this season can be attributed in no small part to the addition of Mahki Backstrom at first base. He is one of several Sussex County players boasting a batting average over .350, and currently ranks third on the team with 35 RBIs.

SECOND BASE – Will Riley, Québec Capitales – Riley will make his All-Star debut as a member of the Capitales. In his first season in the Frontier League since 2023, the Australian native has clubbed five home runs and boasts an OPS of .841.

THIRD BASE – Sean Roby Jr., Sussex County Miners – Playing the opposite corner spot from Backstrom, Sean Roby Jr. also brings power and run producing ability. He currently leads the Miners in home runs (9) and RBIs (44).

SHORTSTOP – Kyle Crowl, Québec Capitales – Kyle Crowl has been excellent once again for the defending champion Québec Capitales this season. He is the current leader of the Atlantic Conference in home runs (16) and is one behind Schaumburg’s Anthony Calarco for the league lead. He gets the All-Star starting nod after being named as a reserve last season.

OUTFIELD – Justin Gideon, Québec Capitales – One of six Capitales to grace the All-Star roster this year, Gideon’s appearance is a surprise to no one. A two-time champion with Québec, he is on track for another 20-plus home run season while being one of the faces of the Capitales’ dynasty.

OUTFIELD – Tommy Kretzler, Brockton Rox – Tommy Kretzler has broken out with the Rox in a huge way in 2025. He has increased his batting average by nearly 90 points and has more than doubled his home run total from last year.

OUTFIELD – Ryan McCoy, New York Boulders – McCoy will make his All-Star debut in 2025. Like Agresti, he carries an active 20-plus game hitting streak (21 at the time of this release). He also brings more power to the Atlantic outfield, carrying a .642 slugging percentage and an OPS over 1.100.
