Schaumburg secured their 50th win of the season while opening a nine-game homestand, and Tri-City closed out their final homestand opener in thrilling fashion on a go-ahead three-run homer from fan-favorite Ian Walters in the eighth. New York rallied from three runs down to take their series opener against Ottawa, and Windy City's Tyler Wehrle turned in a season-high eight innings to open a six-game series in Mississippi. Lake Erie, Joliet, Sussex County, New Jersey and Washington also picked up wins on Tuesday.


DOWN EAST BIRD DAWGS 6 @ TRI-CITY VALLEYCATS 7 The Tri-City ValleyCats opened up the final homestand of the season with one of the most exciting wins of the year. Fan-favorite Ian Walters belted a go-ahead three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth, and the ValleyCats cut down the tying run with a 1-2-5-1 putout in the top of the ninth to secure a 7-6 win over Down East in front of 2,710 fans at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium on August 25.


LAKE ERIE CRUSHERS 7 @ FLORENCE Y'ALLS 5 The Lake Erie Crushers (37-52) continue to play spoiler as the month of August trods on. They came from behind on multiple occasions to beat the Florence Y’alls (50-40) 7-5 on Tuesday night to kick off a four-game series.


OTTAWA TITANS 3 @ NEW YORK BOULDERS 4 The Boulders rallied from 3-0 down on a three-run homer by 2B Santino Rosso in the bottom of the sixth inning, then got a tie-breaking RBI double in the eighth from 3B Josh Leslie as they took the series opener against the Ottawa Titans, 4-3, Tuesday night at Clover Stadium.


JOLIET SLAMMERS 10 @ QUÉBEC CAPITALES 4 The Joliet Slammers took game 1 on the road winning 10-4 against the Québec Capitales on Tuesday night at Stade Canac.


SUSSEX COUNTY MINERS 14 @ TROIS-RIVIÈRES AIGLES 2 The Sussex County Miners jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, using a dominant offensive performance and eight scoreless innings from starter Brothers to defeat the Trois-Rivières Aigles 14-2 in the opening game of a three-game series.


BROCKTON ROX 1 @ NEW JERSEY JACKALS 9 The Jackals earned their best win in the past two weeks on a 9-1 drubbing of the Brockton Rox Tuesday night.


WINDY CITY THUNDERBOLTS 8 @ MISSISSIPPI MUD MONSTERS 1 Tyler Wehrle pitched a ThunderBolts’ season-high eight innings and allowed only one run as the Bolts defeated the Mississippi Mud Monsters 8-1 in the opener of a six-game series at Trustmark Park Tuesday night.


EVANSVILLE OTTERS 1 @ SCHAUMBURG BOOMERS 4 The Schaumburg Boomers opened a nine-game homestand with a 4-1 victory over the Evansville Otters, securing the 50th victory of the year. The win keeps Schaumburg two games ahead in the West Division with 11 games remaining.


WASHINGTON WILD THINGS 8 @ GATEWAY GRIZZLIES 4 A first-inning blast from Anthony Brocato and four more runs before the halfway point of the series opener in Sauget with Gateway were enough for Washington to get back in the win column, as it defeated Gateway 8-4.
