This will be the 33rd Annual Frontier League All-Star Game and marks the first time the Florence Y’alls have ever hosted the event.

The Florence Y’alls will open up their 2026 campaign with a three-game series in Evansville on May 7th. Fans can return to Thomas More Stadium on May 12th for the Y’alls home opener against the Mississippi Mud Monsters, which starts the first six-game homestand of the year.

VETERAN HITTING COACH LUIS REYES HIRED TO LEAD SLAMMER OFFENSE

JOLIET, IL - The Joliet Slammers are proud to announce the addition of Luis Reyes as the club’s hitting coach ahead of the upcoming season.

Reyes joins the Slammers after spending the last four seasons as a hitting coach in the Minnesota Twins’ minor league system. During his time in the organization, he worked with four first-round draft picks and helped develop four players who reached the Major Leagues.

In 2023, Reyes helped lead the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels to a franchise-record of 103 home runs while the club led the Florida State League in slugging percentage (.388). The following year, in 2024, his hitters ranked second in the league in slugging percentage (.363).

Reyes also brings valuable international professional experience to the Slammers. In 2023, he served as the assistant hitting coach and first base coach for the Caribes de Anzoátegui in the Venezuelan Winter League in his hometown of Puerto La Cruz. In 2024, he worked as a hitting analyst for Team Venezuela during the WBSC Premier12 tournament held in Mexico and Japan.

Before entering professional baseball, Reyes spent eight seasons coaching at the collegiate level, at schools like Clark University, Murray State College, Northwestern Oklahoma State University, and Texas A&M International University.

With Reyes joining the staff, the Slammers continue to strengthen their player development resources as they prepare for the upcoming season.

INFIELDER COLE FOWLER HEADED TO NEW YORK METS ORGANIZATION THROUGH CONTRACT PURCHASE

WASHINGTON, Pa. (March 12) – The Washington Wild Things are thrilled to announce the contract of infielder Cole Fowler has been purchased by the New York Mets organization, allowing Fowler’s to become the 51 ^st contract in team history officially purchased from the team. Fowler will be the third this offseason to move into affiliated ball, joining LHP Trey Cooper and OF Alex Ungar, who were set for their first pro contracts with the Wild Things before having those transferred to the White Sox organization.

Fowler is the second Wild Thing to have their contract purchased by the New York Mets in team history (Leon Byrd, 2017). Alex Carrillo (2024), who made his big-league debut in 2025 and was with Team Mexico during the World Baseball Classic, was signed by the Mets in free agency last offseason.

Cole moving into affiliated ball gives the Wild Things a dozen former players in MLB organizations, along with five in staff roles. More than 20 former Wild Things have moved into affiliated ball since the start of 2021.

“It’s always a great day here in Washington when one of our players gets the opportunity with an MLB organization. [We’re] really happy for Cole [and] I know he is super pumped about joining the Mets and getting his first taste of affiliated ball,” said Wild Things manager Tom Vaeth. “Although he was only with us for a short time, it was great having him in our clubhouse and watching him develop on the field. It’s been a good offseason here in Washington for players getting signed by MLB. We look to continue that tradition and keep building on our reputation as one of the best places in independent baseball for players to get an opportunity.”

Fowler enjoyed quite a bit of success in a 25-game stint last year to start his pro career, which helped lift the Wild Things to the team’s fourth division championship in five seasons. In 94 plate appearances, he doubled twice, tripled once and hit four home runs to go with 20 RBI and a slash line of .341/.409/.537. His career certainly started with a bang in a pinch-hitting situation July 22 at Windy City. In his first pro PA, Fowler delivered a go-ahead, two-strike, two-out, two-run single, breaking a 2-2 tie. He hit safely in his first four games of the season and homered for the first time in a series opener against Lake Erie that ended in a sweep and put the Wild Things right back in the thick of the division race.

The New Jersey native played his last two collegiate seasons at Lynn University (Division II), where he played in 48 games in 2025. He slashed .438/.472/.810 (1.281 OPS) with 15 doubles, three triples, 19 home runs and 64 RBI. He struck out only 14 times in 230 plate appearances and was named All-American by three major organizations: ABCA/Rawlings, the Conference Commissioners Association and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America. He was voted First-Team All-American by ABCA/Rawlings and Second-Team by CCA and NCBWA, becoming the first Fighting Knight to receive All-American recognition since 2018. The season ranked third in single-season program history in batting average, hits, homers, slugging percentage and total bases. He was also selected as ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team and South Region Position Player of the Year as well as NCBWA and D2CCA South Region Player of the Year.

In 2024, Fowler played in 50 games and slashed .318/.391/.512 with 14 doubles, two triples, seven long balls and 44 RBI before being named All-SSC First Team. He played in 2023 at Rowan, an NJCAA school, where he slashed .416/.448/.719 (1.167 OPS) with 24 doubles, a triple and 10 homers to go with 66 RBI. Rowan won the NJCAA title and Fowler was First-Team All-Conference and First Team All-World Series. He spent 2022 at Division II Goldey-Beacom, where he appeared in 30 games and drove in seven.

Fowler had signed a new contract in early January, which will allow the Wild Things to keep Fowler’s Frontier League rights through the end of the contract term, which has a team option for 2027.

Ottawa, ON - The Ottawa Titans Baseball Club announced today its intentions to break the Frontier League single-game attendance record and sell out its 2026 Home Opener on Friday, May 8, with the return of a jersey giveaway to the first 5,000 fans.

As the Titans prepare for their fifth thrilling summer in Canada’s Capital, the Club is striving to break a 29-year-old Frontier League single-game attendance record and achieve the first sellout since the Ottawa Lynx in September of 2002. With first pitch at 7:00 p.m. against the four-time defending Frontier League champion Québec Capitales, Opening Day 2026 will be a milestone event that launches an exciting new campaign.

“Opening Night in Ottawa is always special,” said Martin Boyce , General Manager of the Ottawa Titans. “Last year’s 7,000-plus fans brought incredible energy, and the response to our jersey giveaway was overwhelming. This season, we’re raising the bar – and giving away even more jerseys with a bigger goal in mind.”

The previous mark for the highest-attended Frontier League game was set on July 4, 1997, by the Johnstown Steal with 10,250 fans.

The celebration is in full swing with live pre and in-game entertainment, food trucks, and the jersey giveaway to the first 5,000 fans who enter Ottawa Stadium. Note, all jerseys are size XL and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

“We are going into our fifth season, and we’ve seen tremendous growth,” added Boyce. “We can’t wait to launch our summer with a record attendance thanks to our thousands of passionate Ottawa/Gatineau fans.”

Fresh off welcoming nearly 100,000 fans through home games alone, the Club increased total attendance by 16% from the previous season. It was the third consecutive year – every year of the team’s existence – with double-digit percentage growth in attendance, underscoring the National Capital Region's growing love for a traditional summer pastime.

With an expected sellout, the Club also has its sights set on the largest single day of fundraising for the Ottawa Titans Field of Dreams Foundation to date. Fundraising includes auctions throughout the game, donation opportunities, and the largest 50/50 draw – the record funds raised will support children’s charities in the National Capital Region.

Originally home to the International League’s Ottawa Lynx, who were the Triple-A affiliate of the Montreal Expos (1993-2002), Baltimore Orioles (2003-2006), and Philadelphia Phillies (2007), the Lynx sold out 59 home games during their 15-year tenure, including 43 in their inaugural 1993 season.

With the addition of the Boomers, REV Entertainment now owns and operates teams across the country’s top

DJ STEWART NAMED GRIZZLIES' HITTING COACH

SAUGET, ILL. – The Gateway Grizzlies announce that D.J. Stewart has been named the club’s hitting coach for the 2026 season.

No stranger to Gateway, Stewart starred on the field for the Grizzlies as a corner infielder for the last three years, earning Midseason all-star selections in the Frontier League each season. He capped his professional career in 2025 by hitting .305 while leading Gateway in home runs (18), RBIs (80) and total hits (109), with his homer and RBI totals placing inside the Frontier League’s top-10.

“I am excited to welcome D.J. to our staff,” Grizzlies manager Kyle Gaedele said. “I had the honor of being his coach and teammate the past three seasons, and he brings knowledge and experience that will help our team continue to grow and get better. I’m looking forward to seeing him thrive in his first professional coaching role.”

Overall, in three seasons in Sauget as a player, Stewart played in 267 games, amassing 317 hits, 53 doubles, 44 home runs, 223 runs batted in, a .307 batting average, and 166 runs scored, placing him in the Grizzlies’ career top-10 in each category.

Originally from St. Louis, Stewart was selected in the 39th round of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Philadelphia Phillies out of Westminster Christian Academy, playing five seasons in their system before coming to the Frontier League.

MISSISSIPPI MUD MONSTERS SELECTED TO HOST HBCU POWER SERIES IN CONJUNCTION WITH MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL

PEARL, Miss. (January 23, 2026) — The Mississippi Mud Monsters have been selected to host the HBCU Power Series , a multi-day Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) baseball showcase held in conjunction with Major League Baseball , February 12–15 at Trustmark Park .

The event will bring six tradition-rich HBCU Baseball teams to Central Mississippi for a weekend built around high-level collegiate baseball, school pride, and celebration in a professional ballpark setting.

Prairie View A&M University
Alabama A&M University
Grambling State University
Jackson State University
Alcorn State University

The HBCU Power Series will feature three days of games from Friday, February 13 through Sunday, February 15, with three game time slots per day. All games will be nine innings with a 10-run rule, creating a true collegiate showcase environment that balances competition with fan experience.

The event officially begins on Thursday, February 12 with a non-game, pre-event day focused on team workouts, arrivals, media moments, and pageantry. That opening day is designed to highlight the pride, tradition, and culture surrounding HBCU athletics before the first pitch is ever thrown.

The Mississippi Mud Monsters, a member of the Frontier League (an MLB Partner League) , were chosen in recognition of Trustmark Park’s facilities , the organization’s event experience, and its commitment to creating inclusive, community-forward baseball events.

AVON, OH – The Frontier League of Professional Baseball, a Partner League of Major League Baseball, has announced that the 33rd Annual Tryout Camp and Draft will take place on Monday, April 20 and Tuesday, April 21, 2026. The event will be hosted at ForeFront Field, the home of the Lake Erie Crushers, in Avon, OH.

Along with managers from all 18 Frontier League clubs, scouts from several MLB teams and other independent leagues will also be present.

"The Crushers host more than 200 events a year at ForeFront Field, but this one is particularly special because it acts as a gateway for young ballplayers to play professional baseball," said Crushers Team President Vic Gregovits. "We are proud and honored to host the 2026 Frontier League Tryout Camp and Draft. Every story needs a beginning, and we look forward to being on the first page of many ballplayers' stories."

Tryout activities will begin at 9:00 a.m. on April 20 and will include fielding, throwing and baserunning drills for all position players; all position players will also participate in batting practice. Pitchers will throw bullpens in front of team and league evaluators and scouts. The field managers will then post which players are to be invited back for Tuesday's simulated intrasquad game. Following the game, there will be a 30-minute break to allow each team to prepare for the draft.

“With the Tryout Camp and Draft leading directly to our spring trainings, managers use this event to fill out their rosters and provide competition for the regular season team,” said Frontier League Commissioner Steve Tahsler. “The number of players who make impacts on playoff teams each season demonstrates our highly teams value this event each year.”

Of the 49 players taken in the 2025 draft, 21 saw regular season action in the Frontier League and four more played in other MLB Partner Leagues. Players originally signed through the Tryout Camp and Draft have been acquired by Major League Baseball organizations in each of the past four seasons.

CRUSHERS EXTEND SKIPPER JARED LEMIEUX'S CONTRACT INTO 2027

Avon, OH - The Lake Erie Crushers have extended the contract for field manager Jared Lemieux into the 2027 season.

Lemieux joined the Crushers in 2023, and in 2024 he led the franchise to its first playoff appearance in five years with a 51-44 record and a top three pitching staff in tow. With the team parched for their first playoff win since 2013, the Crushers skipper urged Lake Erie to a remarkable 10-8 victory over the Gateway Grizzlies in the Wild Card Game to send his squad to the Divisional Round.

Lemieux’s second offseason saw the addition of many key pieces to a very successful 2025 squad. The imports of Dylan Spain, Brandyn Sittinger, Davie Morgan, and Derek Vegas paired with the mid-season acquisitions of Dario Gomez and Kenen Irizarry were crucial to the team’s success. The snake-bitten offense of 2024 was patched up and made playable by Lemieux’s offseason efforts, and another top three pitching staff in the Frontier League powered the Crushers to a 52-41 record, the team’s most wins in a season since 2019.

Jared Lemieux became the first manager in Lake Erie Crushers history to make the playoffs in back-to-back seasons, and his 103-86 record over the last two seasons speaks to the trajectory he has set the organization on.

JOLIET, IL - On Thursday, April 30th, the Joliet Slammers will be locked in the gates of the Old Joliet Prison as they take the field for a one-of-a-kind exhibition game. This event will serve as the official kickoff to the Route 66 Centennial Celebration with a 3:05pm first pitch.

The exhibition game will adopt the name “The Big House Ballgame” to represent the long history of organized baseball played at the prison. The first game was introduced in 1914 by Warden Edmund Allen as a way to improve morale and encourage good behavior. Baseball remained a constant at the Joliet Prison for nearly a century until the facility closed in 2002.

The Slammers are proud to be a part of a once in a lifetime celebration of the famous Route 66 and excited to help usher in a new era of baseball and community connections in Joliet. “The Big House Ballgame” will serve as the kickoff to a full slate of programs and community-wide activities throughout the city.

KYLE GAEDELE NAMED GRIZZLIES MANAGER

SAUGET, ILL. – The Gateway Grizzlies announce that Kyle Gaedele will take over as the club’s field manager in 2026, making him the seventh manager in team history. The change is effective immediately.

Gaedele will take over for Steve Brook, who will become the Grizzlies’ Director of Baseball Operations following four successful seasons as manager that included three straight playoff appearances from 2023-25. In this new role, Brook will assist Gaedele with player procurement among other duties.

“Kyle has shown that he is a natural leader in his various roles with the organization,” Grizzlies general manager Kurt Ringkamp said. “His knowledge of the game and everyday commitment will lead to success, both on and off the field.”

Originally from the Chicago area and now residing in Arizona, Gaedele has served as the Grizzlies’ hitting coach for the last three seasons, spearheading an offense that has consistently ranked among the best in the Frontier League. In 2023 and 2024, he also was a player-coach, notably hitting .286 with 11 home runs and 32 RBIs in only 37 games down the stretch in 2023 (his first on-field action in five years) to help lead the Grizzlies to their first West Division title in 16 years.

Gaedele first came to the Frontier League as a player for Brook in 2016 with the River City Rascals, putting up all-star caliber numbers after a five-year career in the San Diego Padres organization where he advanced as high as Double-A. He was a sixth-round pick of the Padres in 2011 out of Valparaiso University in Indiana.

“I want to extend my sincere gratitude to the Sauget family for the opportunity to build upon the standard set by Steve, Kurt, and the entire Gateway Grizzlies organization,” Gaedele said. “I am excited for the work ahead, and deeply appreciative for the chance to contribute to the success and culture of this team.”

VALLEYCATS EXTEND ALL-STAR WALTERS AMIDST FLURRY OF ROSTER MOVES

TROY, NY — The Tri-City ValleyCats announced their latest Building the Roster Update presented by Curtis Lumber, headlined by 2025 All-Star 3B Ian Walters, who is returning for his fourth season.

Tri-City also handed extensions to the following players: RHP Austin Dill, RHP Gino Sabatine, OF Dylan Broderick, INF Josh Leslie, INF Amani Larry, RHP Nate Nabholz, UTL Jancarlos Colon, C Ranko Stevanovic, and OF David Glancy. Additionally, the ‘Cats signed C Mike Campagna, who played for the Yuba-Sutter High Wheelers in the Pioneer Baseball League last season.

Walters earned his second Midsummer Classic nomination, and first since 2022 when he was with the Washington Wild Things. Originally acquired by Tri-City in a 2023 midseason trade, Walters has been one of the best defenders at the hot corner in the Frontier League. The Southern Illinois University product took his offensive game to the next level this season, putting together career highs in nearly every category, batting .288 with 17 big flies and 76 RBI.

Highlights for the Paducah, KY native this year included driving in the go-ahead run at the Frontier League All-Star Game presented by Rensselaer County IDA at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. He also crushed the first postseason home run for the ‘Cats in Frontier League history and went deep in each of the first three games in the playoffs.

Dill, Sabatine, and Broderick are returning for their third season. Dill sealed the ValleyCats second consecutive postseason berth, nailing down the save over the New York Boulders in a twinbill sweep at “The Joe” on August 21st. Sabatine was utilized in high-leverage situations, working 33.1 innings in 2025, and finishing 11 games. Meanwhile, Broderick has reached base at a .360 clip during his first two years in the Capital Region, and his power numbers improved upon the 2024 campaign.

Leslie, Larry, Nabholz, Colon, Stevanovic, and Glancy are suiting up for their second campaign. Stevanovic, Leslie, and Larry batted .300 or higher. Leslie paced the team with 31 stolen bases as the everyday shortstop. Glancy also hit for average in the postseason, batting .375, and played in all six playoff games. Additionally, Nabholz pitched to a 2.61 ERA over 31 frames, racking up 30 strikeouts. Meanwhile, Colon provided solid defense primarily as a middle infielder.

Campagna more than held his own for the High Wheelers in 2025. The backstop hit .284 with seven home runs and 27 RBI through 49 games. The University of San Francisco product collected nearly as many walks than strikeouts, a rarity in today’s game.

These transactions follow the earlier signings of OF Aaron Whitley and LHP Luis Misla, two players with local ties, as well as a contract extension for manager, Greg Tagert.

The 2026 season begins on Friday, May 8th as the ‘Cats travel to New Jersey. Opening Night at “The Joe” is scheduled for Friday, May 15th with Tri-City hosting the Québec Capitales in a rematch of the Atlantic Conference Finals.

BOULDERS SKIPPER TJ STANTON SET TO RETURN IN 2026

Pomona, NY – The New York Boulders are thrilled to announce that manager TJ Stanton has agreed to a contract for the upcoming 2026 Frontier League season, which will be his sixth at the helm and tie Jamie Keefe (2013-2018) for the longest tenure in franchise history.

The 44-year-old Florida native guided the ball club to a second straight 52-win campaign this past season – and its first playoff appearance since 2022.

On June 26, 2025, in a 4-2 win at Brockton vs. the Rox, Stanton reached a milestone by collecting his 400th career regular season managerial victory.

The ValleyCats are coming off a 62-34 regular season campaign, which included a single-season franchise record number of wins and their first Frontier League postseason series victory. It was the second consecutive year the ‘Cats made the playoffs.

“We are thrilled to announce this contract extension with Greg,” said ValleyCats Vice President & General Manager, Matt Callahan. “This has been a tremendous fit and partnership over the past two years. 2025 was a special season in Tri-City and we are excited to build on that success for the future.”

The 62-year-old skipper has amassed a 115-75 record with Tri-City. Under Tagert, RHP Nick DeCarlo and C Miguel Useche were signed by the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs organizations this season.

Tagert was named the manager of this year’s Atlantic Conference All-Star team. C Oscar Campos, 3B Ian Walters, RHP Arlo Marynczak, and RHP Easton Klein all represented Tri-City at Joseph L. The Vacaville, CA native joined Pete Incaviglia (159), Ed Romero (134), and Gregg Langbehn (127) as the fourth skipper to win 100-plus games. His .605 win percentage ranks first among all skippers in the ValleyCats 23-season history. Entering 2026, Tagert will become only the fourth manager to be at the helm for three seasons with the ‘Cats. He has compiled a 1430-1258 record (.532 win percentage) across 30 seasons as a manager in professional baseball, including 11 years in the Frontier League.

TOM CARCIONE ANNOUNCED AS NEW THUNDERBOLTS FIELD MANAGER

CRESTWOOD, IL – The Windy City ThunderBolts are excited to announce that Tom Carcione has been named field manager for the 27th season of ThunderBolts baseball in 2026.

A veteran of the Frontier League and Partner League baseball, Carcione comes to the ThunderBolts from the Ottawa Titans, where he served a variety of roles over a four-year stint working with manager Bobby Brown. Most recently, he was the hitting coach in 2025. During his four years in Ottawa, the Titans made two trips to the playoffs and were eliminatedin the final weekend this past season.

“The ThunderBolts are thrilled to welcome Tom Carcione to the Chicago Southland as our new manager,” said ThunderBolts owner David DelBello. “Tom's many years of experience in professional baseball, along with his local ties to the area, make him the perfect choice to lead the team. I am confident Tom will bring winning ThunderBoltsbaseball back to Crestwood.”

“Tom has been in the professional ranks of baseball for over 35 years,” added GM Mike VerSchave. “He has the background, temperament and knowledge to create a winning culture for our organization. Prior to his four years in Ottawa, Carcione spent one season (2021) as the hitting coach for the Southern Illinois Miners and four years (2016-2019) working with Brown as the hitting coach for the Lincoln Saltdogs of the American Association.

Windy City fans may remember him best as the hitting coach of the 2015 ThunderBolts. Under his leadership, that offense produced many highlights, including a team-record stretch of four straight games scoring ten or more runs. Austin Gallagher also set a franchise record that season with a .602 slugging percentage.

“I am excited and honored to be named the manager of Windy City,” Carcione said. “I want to thank our owner David DelBello and general manager Mike VerSchave for this opportunity. I’m committed to building a winning culture, supporting our players and connecting with the fans who make this game special.”

Carcione’s extensive career in baseball also includes a brief managerial stint, in 2008, when he was the interim skipper for the Ottawa Rapides of the Can-Am League. He was named the full-time manager after the season but the team folded prior to the 2009 campaign.

A veteran of the college game as well, he compiled a 50-40 record in two years (2010-2011) as head coach at Metro State University in Denver and served for six years over two stints as an assistant coach at Northern Illinois University.

Carcione is a native of River Grove, Illinois, and played collegiately at Texas A&M University before being drafted as a catcher in the tenth round of the 1988 MLB Draft by the Oakland Athletics. He spent five years in the Oakland system, rising as high as Double-A before closing his playing career with five years of independent ball.

As the 22nd manager in franchise history, Carcione replaces Bobby Jenks, who passed away in July of 2025. Toby Hall piloted the Bolts in an interim capacity in 2025.

FLORENCE NAMES HALL NEW MANAGER

FLORENCE, KY - The Florence Y’alls are excited to announce that former MLB catcher Toby Hall has been named the team’s new Field Manager.

After a nine-year Major League career as a player, this will be Hall’s first position as a professional manager. In 2025, Hall stepped in as Interim Manager of the Windy City ThunderBolts after his best friend, the late Bobby Jenks, was diagnosed with cancer.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Toby to the Florence Y’alls family,” said David DelBello, Owner of the Florence Y’alls. “Toby brings an incredible depth of baseball knowledge, leadership, experience, and a true passion for developing players. His time in the majors and his commitment to the game align perfectly with our vision for the Y’alls organization, and we’re confident that he will lead our team, bringing a winning mindset both on and off the field.”

Hall’s coaching career began in 2022, when he served as bench coach for the Grand Junction Rockies of the Pioneer League. Working with manager Bobby Jenks, he helped guide the Rockies to the Pioneer League Championship. Jenks joined the Frontier League as manager of the ThunderBolts in 2024 and selected Hall to be his bench coach the following season. Now, as manager of the Y’alls, Hall will have his first opportunity to build his own roster and coaching staff.

“I’m super excited to begin this new chapter of my coaching career and I can’t wait to go out and showcase what this team is made of,” said Hall, “With the experience I gained from Windy City last season and from my long MLB career, I look forward to helping these young men not only compete for a championship, but hopefully fulfill their dream to play at the next level.”

A ninth-round draft pick of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 1997, Hall remained in the Tampa Bay organization for the next nine years, including seven seasons at the Major League level. He also appeared with the Dodgers before concluding his playing career with the Chicago White Sox from 2007 to 2008. In 686 Major League games, he had a .262 batting average with 46 home runs.

Throughout his career, Hall was known as one of the best defensive catchers in Major League Baseball. He finished in the top five in caught stealing percentage three times and retired 33 percent of all runners over his 9 seasons in the big show.

FLORENCE, KY - The Florence Y’alls, presented by Towne Properties, had the contract of catcher, Henry Hunter, purchased by the Cincinnati Reds this past weekend.

Hunter, out of Snellville, GA, was a mid-season addition for the Y’alls in 2025 and made an immediate impact behind the plate and in the clubhouse. The 22-year-old lefty provided stability behind the plate and a consistent contact bat in the lineup for Florence in the stretch run.

The University of Georgia product finished his final two collegiate seasons as a starting catcher in the SEC with the Bulldogs. The high-level competition in college translated well to the Frontier League, allowing Hunter to hit the ground running when he joined Florence in late July.

Hunter slashed an impressive .260/.353/.356 in 21 games with the Y’alls, including eight RBIs and seven doubles. His stellar defense behind the plate and infectious energy in the clubhouse were his strongest contributions to the organization. Hunter’s personality and charisma immediately blended with the Y’alls culture, which certainly made a positive impact on his teammates and the fans in his time with Florence.

Hunter’s last at-bat with Florence also marked the final moment of the Y’alls 2025 season. On August 31st against Schaumburg at Thomas More Stadium, Hunter ripped a sacrifice fly to deep left field to walk off the Boomers and complete a three-game sweep. A thrilling end to the season and now a heroic sendoff for Hunter as he takes the next step to what we hope will be a long and successful professional career.

Florence will return for an exciting baseball season in 2026 starting with Opening Day on May 8th at Evansville and including the All-Star celebration that will shine a spotlight on Northern Kentucky. Florence welcomes fans back to Thomas More Stadium for its home opener on May 12, 2026, against the Mississippi Mud Monsters, marking the start of a six-game homestand that includes a weekend series against Evansville.

THE JOLIET SLAMMERS RE-SIGN FIELD MANAGER MIKE PINTO

JOLIET, IL - The Joliet Slammers are proud to announce the re-signing of Field Manager Mike Pinto to a multi-year contract extension marking another chapter in his long and successful tenure in the Frontier League and third season with the Slammers.

Since joining the Slammers, Pinto has already helped the club in strengthening its culture on and off the field. In addition to collecting his 900th career win last season, he led three Slammers All-Stars to New York and his focus on player development was on full display as Ian Battipaglia earned the honor of Frontier League Rookie of the Year under Pinto’s guidance. With Pinto’s steady leadership and proven ability to develop talent, the Slammers are well-positioned to build sustained success in the seasons ahead.

“Bringing Mike back was never in doubt,” said Night Train Veeck, Executive Vice President. “His strong track record for developing players, forging strong cultures, and connecting with the Joliet community makes him an ideal leader for our clubhouse. He has been instrumental in building the team over the last two seasons, and I couldn’t be more excited to have him back on the field in 2026!”

The 2026 season will mark Pinto’s 19th season as a manager in Independent League Baseball. Before joining the Slammers in 2024, he spent 14 years managing the Southern Illinois Miners to 13 winning seasons culminating in seven playoff appearances, four division titles, and winning the Frontier League Championship in 2012 with a 55-39 record in Southern Illinois.

Frontier League Alumni Compete in the Arizona Fall League

Avon, OH – The Frontier League is proud to be once again represented by alumni in the 2025 Arizona Fall League, an offseason showcase featuring many of Major League Baseball’s top prospects and rising players.

Included this year are former Frontier League players Nate Wohlgemuth (Evansville Otters), Trevor Kuncl (Lake Erie Crushers), Josh Loeschorn (New York Boulders), and Dariel Fregio (Washington Wild Things), who are each taking the mound in Arizona. Former Joliet Slammer Nick Lovullo appears this Fall as the coach for the Mesa team.

Nate Wohlgemuth | Evansville Otters — Houston Astros

From Evansville to the Arizona desert, former Otter's pitcher Nate Wohlgemuth is proving that hard work pays off. Wohlgemuth began the 2025 season with the Otters, and quickly stood out, with his contract being purchased by the Houston Astros organization in June.

Once in the Astros system, Wohlgemuth wasted no time proving he belonged. The right-hander appeared in 17 games for High-A Asheville, recording a 3.13 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 23 innings out of the bullpen. His consistent command and fastball velocity, reaching as high as 98 mph, earned him a spot in the Arizona Fall League, where he’s now facing some of the game’s top prospects.

Trevor Kuncl | Lake Erie Crushers — Cincinnati Reds

An All-Star for the Lake Erie Crushers, Trevor Kuncl spent three seasons in the Frontier League, posting a 2.98 ERA with 168 strikeouts in 142 innings pitched. His contract was purchased by the Cincinnati Reds following the 2024 season.

Kuncl continued to impress in his first year of affiliated baseball, posting a 2.34 ERA with 51 strikeouts over 50 innings for Double-A Chattanooga. He now represents the Reds organization with Peoria in the Arizona Fall League.

Josh Loeschorn | New York Boulders — Pittsburgh Pirates

Josh Loeschorn made his Frontier League debut with the New York Boulders in 2022, where he pitched 26 innings across five games, striking out 18. Shortly after, he was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2022 MLB Draft.

In two seasons within the Pirates organization, Loeschorn has an ERA of 3.64, and 113 strikeouts in 96 innings. Now competing for Salt River in the Arizona Fall League, he has credited the Frontier League for giving him his first opportunity to face professional-level hitters.

Dariel Fregio | Washington Wild Things — Detroit Tigers

After two standout seasons with the Washington Wild Things, Dariel Fregio had his contract purchased by the Detroit Tigers organization ahead of the 2025 season. In Washington, he logged 164 innings with a 4.04 ERA and 128 strikeouts.

Fregio has carried that success into affiliated baseball, posting a 1.82 ERA with 43 strikeouts in 39.2 innings pitched in his first season with the Tigers system. He is currently competing in the Arizona Fall League with Scottsdale.

Nick Lovullo | Joliet Slammers — Chicago Cubs Organization

Rounding out the Frontier League’s representation is Nick Lovullo, who played with the Joliet Slammers in 2021 before transitioning into coaching. Lovullo now manages the South Bend Cubs, the High-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, and is serving as a coach of the Mesa Solar Sox in the Arizona Fall League.

Former Wild Things David Popkins Helping Lead Toronto in the Postseason

Avon, OH – As the Toronto Blue Jays battle in the American League Championship Series, one name in their coaching staff may be familiar to Frontier League fans, hitting coach David Popkins.

Popkins spent the 2015 and 2016 seasons with the Washington Wild Things, where he quickly became one of the franchise’s top offensive performers. In 2015, he hit 20 home runs, becoming one of just seven players in team history to record a 20-plus homer season. The following year, Popkins posted a .309 batting average with 15 home runs, 48 RBI, and 26 doubles, earning a selection as a 2016 Frontier League All-Star.

Following his playing career, Popkins transitioned into coaching and joined the Minnesota Twins as their hitting coach from 2022–2023. He is currently serving in the same role with the Toronto Blue Jays, helping guide the club’s offense through the 2025 postseason.

From his standout seasons in Washington to coaching on baseball’s biggest stage, Popkins continues to make an impact at every level of the game.

OTTAWA: FIELD OF DREAMS FOUNDATION ACCEPTING FUNDING REQUESTS FOR 2025

Ottawa, ON – The Ottawa Titans Field of Dreams Foundation is now accepting funding applications from registered children’s charities across the National Capital Region. Applications will be accepted from now through Friday, November 21, for funds raised during the 2025 Frontier League season.

Eligible charities must be based in the National Capital Region and registered as a children’s organization. Applications must be submitted online using the form linked below. Each submission should include a brief overview of the organization, the amount being requested, and a clear outline of how the funds will be used. The Foundation recommends that funding requests fall within the range of $1,000 to $5,000. Funds will be allocated in early 2026, and distribution will begin in late February.

“The Board of the Ottawa Titans Field of Dreams Foundation looks forward to receiving and carefully reviewing application requests sent our way to fund deserving programs in our community,” said Jacques J.M. Shore, C.M. , President of the Field of Dreams Foundation. “In this third year of our Foundation’s selection process, it will be a joy and privilege for us to recognize those programs that meet the criteria and goals of our mission. While we are still a relatively new organization, we take pride in demonstrating that our contributions do indeed make a positive difference in our wonderful Nation’s Capital.”

In 2024, the organization proudly raised and distributed over $38,000 to 22 registered children’s charities throughout the National Capital Region. This milestone brings the total contributions to more than $100,000 in just three years, underscoring the organization's ongoing commitment to supporting youth-focused initiatives in the community.

“We are so proud and happy to have been a recipient of funding from the Ottawa Titans Field of Dreams Foundation,” outlined Natalie Benson of Christie Lake Kids. “It’s really helped us expand and grow our programs in Ottawa for low-income children and youth. The funding has allowed us to keep these programs at no cost for families who need them.”

Since its inception, the Ottawa Titans Field of Dreams Foundation has worked to create inclusive, meaningful opportunities for children of all ages and abilities – fostering life skills, friendship, and a lifelong love for the game of baseball.

The Foundation focuses on raising funds to provide access to baseball, other sports, and community-based programs and events. It partners with like-minded local organizations to strengthen its impact and expand its reach. Mississippi’s bold new holiday tradition opens November 21 at Trustmark Park

AVON, OH – The Frontier League has announced its schedule for its 33rd season! The 2026 regular season

will begin on Thursday, May 7th, with all 18 teams once again set to compete across the U.S. and Canada.

Each team will play a scheduled 102 regular season games, an increase from the previous 96 game schedule.

The reigning four-time Frontier League Champion Québec Capitales will open their title defense on the road

against the Ottawa Titans. Québec fans will get their first chance to see the Capitales at home on Tuesday,

May 26th, when they welcome the Sussex County Miners to Stade CANAC. One of the most anticipated dates

on the schedule comes on Tuesday, June 30th, when Québec travels to Schaumburg to face the Boomers in a

Championship Series rematch.

The Boomers will begin their 2026 campaign on the road against Lake Erie, where the Crushers look to

avenge their 2025 playoff series loss to Schaumburg.

This season’s Frontier League All-Star Game will be hosted by the Florence Y’alls at Thomas More Stadium in

Florence, Kentucky. The festivities will take place from Monday, July 13th through Wednesday, July 15th,

bringing together the League’s brightest stars for three days of celebration. Another highlight of the 2026

season will be Independence Day, as Tri-City, Sussex County, New York, Down East, Lake Erie, Joliet,

Schaumburg, Mississippi, and Gateway host special Fourth of July celebrations at their ballparks on Saturday.

“Coming off our fourth consecutive regular season attendance record plus record attendance for a tremendous

Championship Series, we are excited to announce the 2026 schedule, the 33rd season of Frontier League

baseball,” said Commissioner Steve Tahsler. “Our teams have been eagerly awaiting the official schedule

release so they can begin implementing their plans for 2026.”
