DANNY BEAL WINS PITCHER OF THE WEEK AWARD

Right-handed pitcher Danny Beal pitched in two different games for the Down East Bird Dawgs this past week, with his team coming out on top in both. Collectively, he pitched 13 innings and struck out eight while only allowing six combined hits and one total run. On Tuesday against the East Division-leading Sussex County Miners, Beal pitched seven shutout innings and only surrendered one hit to pick up the win. He ended the week 1-0 with a 0.69 ERA.

Beal is the first-ever weekly award winner in Down East’s history. The 23-year-old Chicago, Illinois native is in his first professional season after pitching for four years at East Carolina University where he amassed a 3.44 ERA. He is the Bird Dawgs’ leader in strikeouts with 55.
