COLE FOWLER WINS PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD
AVON, OH – The Washington Wild Things earned another weekly award in Week 9, their seventh of the season. Infielder Cole Fowler slashed .524/.593/.917 with a pair of home runs to claim the honor.
Infielder Cole Fowler began his week with one of his best performances of the season, going 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run and five RBIs in Washington’s 23-10 win over the Evansville Otters on Tuesday. He picked up hits in each of the series’ final two games as well, as the Wild Things dropped both contests.
Fowler opened Washington’s series against the Schaumburg Boomers on Friday with a home run, a double, and two more RBIs in a Wild Things win. On Sunday, he went 6-for-8 in a doubleheader, recording three hits in each game as Washington swept the series. Fowler doubled and drove in two runs in game one and doubled again in game two. He finished the week going 13-for-24 at the plate with two home runs, two doubles, two walks, and seven RBIs.
Fowler originally signed with Washington last season after playing collegiately at Lynn University, and re-upped with the Wild Things in January. The New York Mets purchased Fowler’s contract in March, returning him to the Wild Things ahead of the season. Fowler joins Jeff Liquori (Week 1), Andrew Herbert (Week 2), Hector Garcia (Week 3), Kobe Foster (Weeks 5 and 6), and Anthony Brocato (Week 6) as Wild Things to earn weekly awards this season.
