BRAYLAND SKINNER WINS PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD

AVON, OH – Outfielder Brayland Skinner became the first player in Mississippi Mud Monsters' franchise history to earn Player of the Week honors after posting a .609 batting average and stealing eight bases this week.


Brayland Skinner ended his week with a pinch-hit, go-ahead grand slam in Sunday’s game against the Lake Erie Crushers. He started Mississippi’s other five games, collecting at least two hits in each of them. Skinner opened the week going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBIs, and two stolen bases against Lake Erie on Tuesday.


He added another two hits in losses on Wednesday and Thursday, and helped Mississippi get back in the win column on Friday with two hits, a walk, and four stolen bases at the top of the batting order. Skinner collected five of the Mud Monsters’ 20 hits on Saturday, going 5-for-6 at the plate with a double and a stolen base. Skinner finished the week with

14 hits in 23 at-bats (.609 batting average), one home run, and one double. He also stole eight bases in six games, recorded seven RBI, and carried a 1.449 OPS.


Skinner, a Mississippi native, was the first player signed by the Mud Monsters ahead of their inaugural 2025 season. He spent the 2024 season with the Pioneer League’s Yolo High Wheelers and played collegiately at the University of Memphis in 2023 and at Mississippi State University in 2021 and 2022. Skinner is the second player in Mississippi franchise history to earn a weekly award, joining pitcher Brian Williams, who won Pitcher of the Week in Week 8 of 2025.
