ARMANI SMITH WINS PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD

Armani Smith has been a great pickup for the Florence Y’alls this season, providing stability at third base while adding another bat to an already potent lineup. Smith’s success shined above all this past week as he went 11-for-19 across five games, hitting one home run and driving in five runs. He was also a threat on the basepaths, stealing two bases as Florence took series against the Gateway Grizzlies and Evansville Otters. His final stat line from the week is .579 AVG/.652/.895 SLG.

Smith, 26, is well-versed in the world of professional baseball. His affiliated experience began when he was just 20 years old with the San Francisco Giants organization. He made it to as high as Double-A ball before joining the independent baseball scene in 2024 with the Milwaukee Milkmen of the American Association. His first year in Florence has been fruitful, as he leads the team in batting average and currently ranks second in team RBIs. He is the first Y’all to win a weekly award this season.
