ANTHONY CALARCO WINS PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD

Anthony Calarco is enjoying a booming sophomore season in Schaumburg. This past week was another display of the power-hitting value the Boomers’ first baseman has to offer. In five games, Calarco homered three times and drove in 11 runs; he also tallied three doubles in that stretch. His most impressive outing came in the Wednesday game against the Lake Erie Crushers where he went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and 4 RBIs. He tallied at least one hit in every contest this week, including three multi-hit performances. His stat line for the week ended at .474 AVG/.600 OBP/1.105 SLG.

Calarco has been incredibly successful in his second season with the Schaumburg Boomers, already just one home run shy of his rookie season in less than half the games played. In 27 games this season, the Barrington, Illinois native has a .359 batting average, which ranks fifth in the league. He is also tied for the league home run lead (8) and leads the Frontier League in RBIs (39). This is Calarco’s first weekly award and Schaumburg’s first since Christian Fedko won during the week of June 23, 2024.
