ANDREW CZECH WINS PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD
If you are a fan of the Washington Wild Things, you have no doubt heard of first baseman Andrew Czech. “Czecher” is enjoying another fabulous season in Washington, as exemplified by his play this past weekend. In the series against the Sussex County Miners, Czech went 7-for-12 with a home run and seven RBIs. He also collected two doubles and stole a base. His best game came in the 17-1 romp on Sunday, going 3-for-3 with a homer, five RBIs and a walk. His splits for the weekend ended at .583 AVG/.615 OBP/1.000 SLG.
Czech has been with the Wild Things since 2021, averaging 15-plus home runs per season while being an everyday player. His 2025 season is shaping up to be another in a list of successful ones in a Washington uniform, setting the new Wild Things career home run record and having his best batting average (.278) since 2022. Czech won Player of the Week previously in 2024 for the week ending May 19.
