2025 FRONTIER LEAGUE PREVIEWS: WINDY CITY THUNDERBOLTS

After finishing seventh in the Frontier League West Division and missing the playoffs last season, the Windy City ThunderBolts will be looking to turn things around in 2025.

One of the biggest pieces of offseason news for the club was that ownership was changing hands: In October of 2024, Florence Y'alls owner David DelBello and a group of investors purchased the ThunderBolts with plans to continue the legacy of baseball in the Chicago Southland. Windy City will play Florence nine times throughout the 2025 regular season and could potentially meet in the playoffs under the Frontier League's new playoff structure.

The Bolts' first season under new ownership will begin by hosting the 32nd Annual Frontier League Tryout Camp and Draft at Ozinga Field. The tryouts are scheduled to run from Tuesday, April 22nd through Wednesday, April 23rd, with the draft occurring in the afternoon of the second day. Windy City currently owns the seventh overall pick.

Since last spring, the Bolts had two of their hard-throwing bullpen arms signed by Major League Baseball organizations; Tyler LaPorte went to the Atlanta Braves in early February and Derrick Edington was picked up by the Tampa Bay Rays back in May 2024.

Windy City also plans on bringing back a great slate of gameday promotions for the 2025 season, including Thursday Night Postgame Wrestling beginning on May 29th, Military and Senior Appreciation Wednesdays and a slew of night games with fireworks.
