2025 FRONTIER LEAGUE PREVIEWS: SCHAUMBURG BOOMERS

For most teams, finishing with a winning record can be viewed as a success. The Schaumburg Boomers, however, are not most teams. After reaching the postseason for three consecutive seasons between 2021-2023 -- including a Frontier League Championship in 2021 -- the Boomers were denied entry to the playoffs on the last day of the regular season despite finishing with a winning record. Entering 2025, the four-time league champions’ success will be determined by if they are still playing come September.

The Boomers highlighted their busy offseason by extending both Field Manager Jamie Bennett and General Manager Michael Larson. Both Bennett and Larson have been with the team through multiple championships and numerous bestowed awards.

Larson, a three-time Frontier League Executive of the Year saw the Boomers break their single-game attendance record more than once last season; he also oversaw the team with the highest overall and per-game attendance across the entire league in 2024. Bennett has won over 600 games in Frontier League, all with Schaumburg.

The team has also brought back key veterans like infielders Alec Craig and Will Prater to help solidify the clubhouse.

Like many other organizations in the Frontier League, the Schaumburg Boomers have a lengthy list of alumni now with MLB-affiliated teams. 2024 saw two more Boomers get scooped up by Major League Baseball organizations: outfielder Ryan McCarthy and right-hander Matt Helwig were both signed by the Minnesota Twins last summer.

Former Boomer Jake Cousins, who pitched in the World Series for the New York Yankees in the fall, was one of six former Frontier Leaguers to make an MLB Opening Day roster in 2025.

Schaumburg has spared no expense when it comes to their in-game entertainment and promotions. The team revealed a new set of drone light shows in 2024 which were featured on local news segments in the Chicagoland area. The Boomers’ firework displays are also some of the best in baseball, especially during their Memorial Day and Independence Day celebrations. The team has announced their full promotional schedule, which will include combination drone-firework shoes, $1 Hot Dog games, and several specialty jersey nights.

The Boomers will begin their attempted trek back to the Frontier League playoffs on May 8 when they host they host the Windy City ThunderBolts. To view the full promotional schedule, purchase tickets, and view team news, check out boomersbaseball.com.
