2025 FRONTIER LEAGUE PREVIEWS: NEW JERSEY JACKALS
2024 was a down year for the New Jersey Jackals. After claiming their first playoff victory as a member of the Frontier League in 2023, New Jersey struggled with offensive consistency. The Jackals will look to make 2025 a year of resurgence under second-year field manager Bert Gonzalez.
While the Jackals used 2024 as a rebuilding year, it did not stop fans from showing up to Hinchliffe Stadium in record numbers. The club recorded record attendance numbers, including an overall and average per-game increase.
One of the most successful initiatives the Jackals have put on for the New Jersey community is their Read Around The Bases program. The idea of this program is to give local teachers a motivational tool to increase how many books school children are reading. Each student who reads at least three books during the program (which runs between January and April) will receive a pair of game tickets from the Jackals. Those tickets can be used for one of three "Read Around the Bases" Nights at Hinchliffe Stadium. This year’s dates are listed below:
May 29 vs. Ottawa
June 5 vs. New York
June 12 vs. Trois-Rivieres
New Jersey will also celebrate an important member of its team’s history on May 16, when they induct former coach Ani Ramos into the Jackals Hall of Fame. Ramos was the bullpen coach for the team between 1998 and 2016. He is also the only player or coach with four championship rings in the 27-year history of the organization.
The Jackals were another of the Frontier League’s teams to have a player signed by a Major League Baseball organization in the offseason. Yuhi Sako, New Jersey’s lone representative in the 2024 All-Star Game, was signed by the New York Mets in December. Sako excelled as both a starter and as a reliever in 2024 and earned Player of the Week honors for the week of July 15. He is expected to make his debut for their single-A affiliate, the St. Lucie Mets this spring.
New Jersey is geographically one of the biggest melting pots in the United States. The Jackals are celebrating all the diversity in the area by announcing the following promotional International Days:
May 11 -- Puerto Rico/Mother’s Day
May 18-- Italian Heritage Night
June 8-- Irish Night
June 15 -- India Day/Father’s Day Cricket Exhibition
