2025 FRONTIER LEAGUE PREVIEWS: MISSISSIPPI MUD MONSTERS

After much anticipation, the Mississippi Mud Monsters will join the Frontier League in 2025 as the newest member of the newly formed Midwest Conference. The Mud Monsters, one of two expansion teams that were added this offseason, will play their games at Trustmark Park in Pearl, Mississippi.

The Mud Monsters debuted as a brand-new Frontier League team in the fall of 2024 under the name “On Deck 2025”; the new team announced that it would be taking the place of Mississippi Braves, the Double-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. A fan vote dubbed the club as the Mud Monsters, with a teal bat-swinging catfish as the team’s mascot.

The team, owned by businessman Joseph Eng, will be overseen by Andrew Seymour and David Kerr; Seymour and Kerr will act as general manager and assistant general manager, respectively.

Jay Pecci will serve as the Mud Monsters’ first-ever field manager. Pecci, who was hired in January, played 14 seasons in the minor leagues and independent baseball from 1998-2012. He was previously coached in various minor league levels with the New York Mets organization.

Pecci and the Mud Monsters will kick off the 2025 season by making the first overall selection in the 32nd Annual Frontier League Draft on April 23. Mississippi will also make the second selection in each of the second and third rounds.

The Mud Monsters recently announced their full promotional schedule for their inaugural season. On top of daily promotions like Thirsty Thursdays and Firework Fridays, the Mud Monsters will also be having an Opening Day t-shirt giveaway on May 8, a Memorial Day jersey auction on May 26, and a two-day Independence Day celebration on July 4 and 5.

Mississippi will kick off their first season in the Frontier League at Trustmark Park on Thursday, May 8 against the Florence Y’alls. For tickets and information on their entire promotional schedule, be sure to visit mudmonstersbaseball.com.
