2025 FRONTIER LEAGUE PREVIEWS: JOLIET SLAMMERS

The Joliet Slammers went through a significant transition in 2024. In the first year under both new ownership and new field manager Mike Pinto, there were signs of significant growth. For 2025, the Slammers will be hoping to take another step towards the Frontier League playoffs.

The first year under the Veeck family and Bill Murray’s ownership was a great success for one of the Frontier League’s three Chicagoland teams. The Slammers, along with the entire league, saw an increase in total and average attendance from the previous year.

Joliet also saw two of its pitchers picked up by Major League Baseball organizations: Nick Bautista (New York Mets) and Ricky Castro (Minnesota Twins). Two former Slammers in Chris Roycroft and Tyler Jay made their major league debut in 2024.

Chris Roycroft debuted for the St. Louis Cardinals in May of last year and appeared in 27 games; Roycroft played for Joliet from 2021-2022. Tyler Jay made his first MLB appearance for the New York Mets in April, pitching in three games before being traded to the Milwaukee Brewers; Jay played for the Slammers from 2022-2023.

One of the best parts of any Joliet Slammers game is the wide array of gameday promotions the team puts on. Some of the most popular ones for this upcoming season include:

-         Disco Night (May 23rd)

-         Honoring the Negro Leagues (June 24th)

-         Big Splash Day (July 6th)

-         Slammers Smackdown (August 9th)

-         Dia de los Muertos celebration (August 30th)
