Washington’s Dorminy and Joliet’s O’Sullivan Named Starters for 2018 All-Star Game

O’FALLON, MO. – One day before the 2018 Frontier League All-Star game, Experienced Teams Manager Mike Pinto of Southern Illinois and Rookie Teams Manager Gregg Langbehn of Washington have made their starting pitcher selections.


Southern Illinois’ Mike Pinto has selected Left-Handed pitcher Thomas Dorminy #13 of the Washington Wild Things. Dorminy is in his first season with the Wild Things and has posted a 7-2 record through the first half to go along with a 1.94 earned run average.


Dorminy a former 10th round selection by the San Diego Padres in 2014 is in his first season in the Frontier League after having spent the last four seasons between A and AA. Dorminy has a career record of 25-26 with a 3.76 earned run average. Dorminy has started 11 games this season throwing two shutouts, he has also posted 57 strikeouts over 69.1 innings. “I’m excited to have the opportunity to start the All-Star Game” Dorminy said. “There are a lot of talented players here and I’m just happy to be here.” The Spring Hill, Florida native and Faulkner University alum is appearing in his first All-Star game and will have the honor of starting against his Manager Gregg Langbehn.


Washington’s Gregg Langbehn has chosen to go with Joliet Slammers Right-Handed pitcher #15 Liam O’Sullivan. O’Sullivan is in his second season with the Slammers and has a 5-2 record to go along with a 3.07 earned run average through the first half of the season.


O’Sullivan an alum of the University of Rhode Island and St. Leo College is in his third season in the Frontier League, having spent time with the Joliet Slammers (2016, 2018) and the Frontier Greys (2015). He has a 16-6 record in his career while posting a 3.51 earned run average over 202.1 innings. “It’s a blessing and honor to be named starting pitcher for the All-Star game” O’Sullivan said. “It should be an awesome night, and I’m looking forward to playing with the best of the best in the Frontier League for the night.” The South Grafton, Massachusetts native is appearing in his first All-Star Game, he has posted 41 strikeouts through 67.1 innings making 10 starts and throwing two shutouts. O’Sullivan was named 2016 Frontier League Pitcher of the Year.


The 2018 All Star Game will be Wednesday, July 11 at CarShield Field 7:00 pm CST.

The 2018 Home Run Derby will take place on Tuesday, July 10 at CarShield Field in O’Fallon, Missouri.
