2007 Playoff Format
The teams that qualify for the playoffs will be the three (3) division winners and one (1) wild card team with the next best overall regular-season record. The teams will be seeded 1 through 4 based on their regular-season records. The wild card team will automatically be seeded #4. If there is a tie for a seeding, the tie breaker system described below will be implemented. Seed #1 will play Seed #4 and Seed #2 will play Seed #3 in a best-of-five format. The higher seed will have home field advantage and host games 1, 2, and 5 (if necessary).
The two winners of the first round of playoffs will advance to the best-of-five League Championship Series. The higher seed will have home field advantage and host games 1, 2, and 5 (if necessary).
TIE-BREAKER SYSTEM: In case of a tie, the winner of the division or a playoff position will be determined by (1) winning percentage; (2) if still a tie, head-to-head record; (3) if still a tie, head-to-head record against each team in that team's division in descending order of regular-season finish; (4) if still a tie, runs scored in head-to-head competition; and (5) if still a tie, a one-game playoff will be held the day after the regular season ends at a site to be determined by a coin toss of the Commissioner. |
