HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE LEE SMITH TO VISIT GATEWAY FOR OPENING DAY

The Gateway Grizzlies are excited to announce that Lee Smith will be at our Opening Night game!

Lee Smith was inducted to the Baseball Hall of Fame by the Today’s Game Committee in December and will be formally enshrined in Cooperstown on July 21, 2019.  Smith played 18 seasons of Major League Baseball from 1980-1997, including 1990-1993 with the St. Louis Cardinals.  Smith was a 7-time MLB All-Star, including 1991-93 with the Cardinals, and was the 1991 and 1992 Rolaids’ National League Relief Pitcher of the Year.  He held the MLB career saves record from 1993 through 2006 and his 478 saves ranks him third all-time.
