The Florence Freedom, presented by Titan Mechanical Solutions, are excited to announce the team has come to an agreement with field manager Dennis Pelfrey on a 3-year contract extension running through the 2020 campaign.

Pelfrey, 40, most recently guided the Freedom to the franchise’s winningest season in 2017 when the team went 61-35 during the regular season, and made it all the way to the Frontier League Championship Series. The Freedom also captured their first division championship in franchise history.

“I’m excited to be a part of the Freedom family,” Pelfrey said. “This organization has been a phenomenal place to call home, and Clint and Kim Brown have done an excellent job building the foundation for its success.”

The 2018 season will mark Pelfrey’s fourth as the Freedom’s skipper. In three years he holds an all-time record of 160-136 (.540 winning percentage), including playoffs.

“We’re privileged to have Dennis as our manager and we’re glad to have him here another three seasons,” Freedom VP/General Manager Josh Anderson said. “He’s prepared, he works extremely hard recruiting, developing and managing the guys, and always commands the best on and off the field from our players. The Freedom and Northern Kentucky community is lucky to have a baseball manager like Dennis.”

Pelfrey is a Grand Prairie, Texas native where he resides in the offseason with his wife Giovanni, daughter Kiley (13) and son Jackson (2).

Prior to coming to Florence he was an assistant coach for the Gary SouthShore Railcats under manager Greg Tagert for four seasons. Pelfrey played in the Frontier League from 2000-2003 with Dubois County and Kenosha.

The Freedom play all home games at UC Health Stadium, located at 7950 Freedom Way in Florence, KY. Fans can lock in a season pass to catch all 48 home games in 2018 for just $100. The Freedom can be contacted by calling 859-594-4487.
