JOLIET, Ill. –The Joliet Slammers hosted the 2017 Frontier League Home Run Derby presented by MK Orthopedics on Tuesday night at Slammers Stadium. It was a hot and humid night for the derby as all players were keeping hydrated cool.
Round one results in order of batting:
EVN – Dane Phillips – 9
LE – Tanner Lubach – 2
EVN – Jeff Gardner – 13
GAT – Blake Brown – 2
TC – Steven Patterson – 10
FLO – Jordan Brower – 8
SCH – Seth Spivey – 3
JOL – Rock Shoulders – 12
WSH – Bralin Jackson – 3
RC – Josh Silver – 3
NOR – Aaron Dudley – 6
WC – Kyle Wood – 2
JPD – Bill Busse – 2
JFD – Sean Miller – 0
Phillips, Gardner, Patterson, Brower, Shoulders, and Dudley all advanced to round 2.
Hall of Fame Address: Frontier League Commissioner Bill Lee addressed the Slammers crowd with an introduction of the 2017 Hall of Fame Class, this year’s class includes: Chase Burch, Gator McBride, Travis Garcia, Pete Pirman, Steve Sturgill, and the man accepting the “Moment” in Frontier League History, Tom Crowley
Round two results in order of batting:
NOR – Dudley – 3
FLO – Brower – 7
EVN – Phillips – 12
TC – Patterson – 6
JOL – Shoulders – 7
EVN – Gardner – 14
Phillips and Gardner would advance to the finals with Brower and Shoulders showdown in a swing-off. Brower would outswing Shoulders and advance.
Final round results:
FLO- Brower – 13
EVN- Phillips – 8
EVN- Gardner – 14
Gardner finished with a walk-off 14th home run and finished with 41 total homeruns. Gardner currently leads the Frontier League in 13 total home runs. Most of his shots came from the right field wall that is measured out to 327 feet.

The Final day of the 2017 Frontier League All-Star Week will kick-off with the 2017 Hall of Fame Induction Luncheon that begins at 11:30 p.m.
The 2017 Frontier League All-Star game starts at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday night, July 12 at Slammers Stadium located in Joliet, Illinois.
