(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) – Evansville Otters RHP Robert Ramer has had his contract purchased by the San Francisco Giants on Saturday. Ramer is the 61st Otter to be signed by affiliated baseball.

Ramer was 10-1 with Evansville and is tied with right-hander Amad Stephens for the highest winning percentage (.909) of any pitcher in the Otters’ 20-year history.  The Sunnyvale, California, native was a Frontier League best 7-0 this season with a 1.90 ERA, which is seventh lowest of any qualifier this year.

“We have been getting a lot of calls about Robert lately,” said Otters manager Andy McCauley. “I’m glad he is getting the opportunity to pitch with the San Francisco Giants. He has earned everything he is receiving now with hard work and learning the professional aspects of pitching. We wish him all the best with the Giants organization.”

The Otters signed Ramer in the summer of 2013 as a rookie out of Purdue University. Ramer was 16-6 in his collegiate career for the Boilermakers, which earned his first professional contract with Evansville. He recorded his first victory in just his second start, and the Otters have won 13 of the 14 career games in which Ramer has pitched.

“I just want to thank the Evansville Otters for the opportunity they gave me,” said Ramer. “I want to thank Andy for giving me a shot when no one else did last year. I want to also thank (pitching coach) Max Peterson for working with me and helping me to continue to develop.

“I’m going to miss all of the great friends that I have made here and wish nothing but the best for them. I know they are going to continue to play well and compete for the championship this year. Much love!”

Evansville will now look for a series win and their fifth consecutive victory on Saturday. First pitch is set for 6:35 pm CDT at Bosse Field. It will be Heritage Federal Credit Union Night at Bosse Field. The first 1000 fans will receive an Otters hat courtesy of HFCU. There will also be a postgame fireworks extravaganza sponsored by Heritage Federal Credit Union.

Fans can call 812-435-8686 to purchase tickets. Those not going to the game can listen live on WUEV 91.5 FM and with the pregame show starting at 6:15 pm CDT.
