The Gateway Grizzlies are pleased to announce that relief pitcher Aaron Baker had his contract purchased by the Philadelphia Phillies Tuesday afternoon.

Baker, 24, becomes the third Grizzlies player signed by a Major League organization in the last week and the 33rd in franchise history. The hard-throwing right-hander is the 13th player signed since manager Phil Warren took over.

“This has been a great week for us getting guys moved on to the next level,” Warren stated.  “We’re proud of Aaron and excited to see him get this chance. He was having a phenomenal year for us.”

Baker, in his second year with the Grizzlies, was one of the top relievers in the league in 2014 with a 1-0 record and a 0.50 ERA as Gateway’s eighth inning set-up man. In 17 outings, Baker allowed just one run with 16 strikeouts. The Belton, MO native was holding opponents to a .172 batting average.
