The next pitch Drew Rucinski throws will be as a member of the Inland Empire 66ers, the Advanced-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Rucisnki, who was the ace on the Aviators’ pitching staff, was 4-6 with an ERA of 2.88 through 15 starts and 100 innings pitched this season. He led the Frontier League in strikeouts with 101 against just 27 walks.
The right-hander from Broken Arrow, Okla. now begins his second stint in affiliated ball; he spent the majority of 2011 in the Cleveland Indians organization, pitching for the Arizona Rookie League Indians, Mahoning Valley Scrappers (short-season A) and the Lake County Captains (class-A, full season).
Rucinski is the fifth player from Rockford since last season to sign with a MLB organization.
